Brain, Mind and Pain Patient-Centred Innovation (BMP) Grant and Pain Alliance Europe are pleased to announce the winners of the third edition of the BMP Grant: “Expert Finder” and “CBT-I World Café”. The winning applications were submitted by Katharina Glanz of the European Alliance for Restless Legs Syndrome (EARLS) and Kieran O’Sullivan from the University of Limerick, respectively.
The two projects successfully tackled this edition’s theme “Healthy Sleep for People Living with Brain, Mind and Pain Conditions”.
The BMP Grant Winner Announcement event was held virtually on Friday, 22 July 2022.

Comment from Katharina Glanz, EARLS President on the project, Expert Finder:
“Our dream comes true! EARLS aims to help those affected with RLS to find support throughout Europe: an interactive map will show doctors, sleep labs, and RLS support groups.”

Comment from Prof. Kieran O’Sullivan on his team’s project, CBT-I World Café:
“The burden associated with both pain and poor sleep is large, and especially when they are experienced at the same time. We are delighted to have obtained funding for this project which is co-designed with Chronic Pain Ireland. This project will work with stakeholders, including clinicians and patients, to identify what options are available to people with pain who also report poor sleep, and how acceptable and effective these options are.”
The project is being completed as part of a PhD by Abigail Browne at the University of Limerick in Ireland, under the supervision of Prof. Kieran O’Sullivan and Dr Roisin Cahalan.

BMP Grant thanks the Grant Jury and the Steering Committee for their work and support in the first phase of the BMP Grant third edition. BMP Grant appreciates all applicants for putting tremendous effort into submitting projects for the competition.
